From 01.11. to 30.11. we are closed on Tuesdays.

Reservations are only accepted via our online reservation program. Overnight stays are not possible without an online reservation.

Location and opening times

The Ostpreußenhütte is a refuge belonging to the DAV Königsberg/Pr section and is located at 1630m above sea level at the foot of the Hochkönig.

Our opening times are:

  • Monday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. (kitchen open until 7 p.m.). There is quiet time in the hut from 9:30 pm.
  • From 15th May to 31st October we are open everyday! In November we are closed on Tuesdays. Please check the updated opening hours!
  • From 1st of November until 30th of November we are open:
    • Monday from 9am – 5 pm
    • Tuesday we are closed!
    • Wednesday to Friday from 9am – 5 pm
    • Saturday to Sunday from 9 am – 9 pm (kitchen until 7pm)

Salzburg’s Limestone Alps

The Ostpreußenhütte is located at 1630 meters in the middle of the Salzburg Limestone Alps.

It is surrounded by the fascinating mountains of the Hochkönig massif, the Hagen and Tennengebirge and lies high above the Salzach valley, not far from Werfen.

The hut:

The romantically located Ostpreußenhütte has a rustic, listed parlor and was completely renovated in 2023.

The Ostpreußenhütte was inaugurated in 1928. In the old listed parlor of the hut, maps, coats of arms and pictures of numerous cities still remind us of the East Prussian homeland of the founding fathers.

History

The hut is equipped with 6 twin rooms, 2 single rooms, 2 double rooms and a newly renovated 20-bed dormitory, the old parlor and a new parlor, a large sun terrace, two washrooms and showers.

All of our products are regional, organic and sustainable! We attach great importance to animal welfare and only use high-quality, animal-friendly products in all of our products. All dishes are freshly prepared.

After the general renovation in 2023, the Ostpreußenhütte is equipped with:

  • A newly renovated 20-bed dormitory
  • A cozy new parlor
  • The old listed parlor
  • A large sun terrace
  • Two washrooms with showers
  • Power supply with modern combined heat and power plant (CHP)

FAQs

When is the Ostpreußenhütte open?

We are here for you from May 15th to October 31st every day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
There is quiet time in the hut from 9:30 pm until 6:00 am, wich means that leaving the hut after 9 p.m. and before 6 a.m. is not possible.

From 1st of November until 30th of November we are open:
Monday from 9am – 5 pm
Tuesday we are closed!
Wednesday to Friday from 9am – 5 pm
Saturday to Sunday from 9 am – 9 pm (kitchen until 7pm)

Our hut is closed from December 1st to April 15th! The winter room is open to self-catering guests (no toilets, no shower facilities).

How do I get to the Ostpreußenhütte?

There are various routes to the Ostpreußenhütte:

  • From Werfen via Dielalm (1026m), walking time approx. 3 ½ hours.
  • From the Dielalm (1026 m). This can be reached by car and offers parking, walking time approx. 2 hours (path no. 401).
  • From Tenneck through the Blühnbachtal, walking time approx. 5 hours.
  • From Imlau/Pfarrwerfen via the Sonneck Haus, walking time approx. 3 ½ hours (path no. 60)
How do I get to Werfen?

Directions from Munich to Dielam: A8, at the Salzburg motorway junction turn onto the Tauern motorway A10, after the Paß-Lueg tunnel take the Tenneck exit (E34) and take the B159 south until you reach the town entrance to Werfen. Turn right and follow the signs to Dielalm.

Should I reserve?

Overnight stays are only possible with prior online reservations. Unfortunately, we cannot accept overnight stays at short notice.
There is quiet time in the hut from 9:30 pm until 6:00 am, wich means that leaving the hut after 9 p.m. and before 6 a.m. is not possible.

Dogs are not allowed during overnight stays.
